The GYTC8S cable features an "8-figure" or "figure-8" design, integrating a communication unit (loose tube layer-stranded structure) and a supporting unit (steel strand) into a single cable. This self-supporting design eliminates the need for an additional messenger wire, simplifying aerial installation.
Construction layers
✅ Fiber unit: Loose tubes (filled with waterproof gel) housing fibers (e.g., G.652D single-mode or multi-mode fibers) layered around a central strength member.
✅ Strength member: Phosphated and galvanized steel wire (provides high tensile strength, e.g., ≥4000 N).
✅ Armor layer: Longitudinal steel tape or PSP (double-sided plastic-coated steel tape) for crush resistance and moisture barrier.
✅ Jacket: Polyethylene (PE) sheath with UV resistance . Some variants use flame-retardant polyolefin (oxygen index ≥32%) for enhanced safety.
Application
✅ Aerial communication networks:
✔ Urban trunk lines (no separate messenger wire, reducing installation cost by ~30%).
✔ Rural broadband coverage (span ≤150 m, wind resistance ≥12).
✅ Industrial zones:
✔ Corrosion-resistant applications (e.g., petrochemical parks) due to phosphated steel.
✔ Attachment to power towers (safe distance ≥1.2 m from power lines).
✔ Long-distance and inter-office communication .
